Erin Aesthetics' Top Tips to Prevent Dry Skin this Winter

Winter is here and your skin may need some extra TLC so we have created a little guide to keep your skin looking healthy and hydrated. With these little tweaks to your current skin care routine you’ll be able to keep your skin looking vibrant all winter long.

HYDRATE

If you’re not already using a hyaluronic acid serum in your routine, now is the time to incorporate one. Hyaluronic acid can help increase the moisture content in your skin which may help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid functions as a humectant and holds water molecules onto the skin's surface to help hydrate and plump.

Our Favourite Hyaluronic Acid products -

Mesoestetic HA Densimatrix Serum; combines cross-linked high, middle and low weight Hyaluronic acid molecules for deeper, longer-lasting hydration.

Cosmedix Surge Serum; a hydrating serum that will boost hydration levels within the skin, as well as brighten and reinvigorate tired or dehydrated looking skin.

O Cosmedics Pure Age Defiance Serum; powered by concentrated doses of hyaluronic acid, peptides and vitamins this serum targets ageing concerns while keeping the skin hydrated.

Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense; helps increase the levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin, blocks its breakdown and works in conjunction with hyaluronic acid to deliver immediate and long-term hydration for all-day moisture.

NOURISH

The skin usually requires more lipids in winter to prevent your skin from becoming dehydrated. Lipids are the skin's natural fats and they are an essential component of the skin and play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

Our favourite winter skincare products -

Medik8 Lipid-Balance Cleansing Oil; this silky oil is the ultimate double cleanse hero with a blend of replenishing oils plus anti-pollution technology.

O Cosmedics Youth Activating Oil Balm; powered by precious Lakesis Oil to increase the synthesis of Klotho (youth proteins) as well as Macadamia, Jojoba and Olive Oils to improve barrier recovery and protection.

Cosmedix Remedy Oil; rich in omega fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E that deliver a daily dose of hydration to help protect and nourish the skin for a radiant look.

O Cosmedics Vitamin C Hemp Oil; rich in omega fatty acids with intense hydration, nourishing and soothing properties. Perfect to help support collagen synthesis, lighten pigmentation, even out skin tone and protect against free radicals.

Mesoestetic Proteoglycans Ampoules; a concentrated formula containing glycoproteins, Vitamin C and F that provide more firmness, elasticity and nourishment to the skin.

Medik8 H.E.O Mask; two step overnight mask leaving the skin deeply hydrated.

EXFOLIATE

Winter can make our skin more dry, flaky and dull. It’s important we continue to exfoliate our skin throughout the cooler months, however, over-exfoliating the skin may lead to sensitivities. Instead of using mechanical exfoliation products try a gentle chemical or enzyme exfoliation.

We recommended the following products -

Cosmedix Pure Enzymes; a Cranberry Exfoliating Mask that gently polishes away dead, dull surface skin to help reveal a softer, more radiant-looking complexion.

O Cosmedics 3 in 1 Fruit Peel Mask; powered by V8 Peptide Complex, Papaya, Pomegranate and Mango Enzymes and a natural AHA complex to release redundant dead skin cells and reveal a healthy, radiant and smooth complexion.

Medik8 Press & Glow; a gentle hydrating acid toner that helps to exfoliate, leaving the skin visibly smooth and even-tone for a noticeable everyday glow.

CLINICAL TREATMENTS

Winter treatments to target skin dryness include O Cosmedics Enzyme Peels, Mesoestetic Lactic Acid Peels and HydraFacial treatments.

Winter is also a great time of year for more advanced skin treatments including depigmentation peels such as Cosmelan and Dermamelan. This time of year is also great for skin tightening treatments such as the Genius RF Micro-Needling or Tixel.
