Combining Tixel and PRP: The Ultimate Rejuvenating Treatment

What is Tixel?

Tixel tightens and rejuvenates the skin using heat to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Using thermo-mechanical technology, the machine is stamped across the treatment area creating micro channels to help induce a controlled injury, the skin will go through a natural healing process resulting in new collagen stimulation. Tixel is suitable for all areas of the body, most commonly treated areas are face, neck, décolletage and hands. Tixel is even suitable for the most delicate skin around the eyes to reduce skin laxity of the upper and lower eyelid.

What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. PRP consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing. Platelets contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area.

Why we love to combine Tixel and PRP?

Tixel creates ‘open channels’ in the skin lasting approximately 4 hours post treatment. This means better penetration for the PRP alongside all the benefits of Tixel. PRP supercharges the skins natural renewal process, and stimulates collagen and elastin to rejuvenate the skin, reduce signs of ageing. It can help to reduce lines, wrinkles and volume loss, improve skin tone and texture, skin firmness and gives you a healthy glow.

Any remaining PRP can be injected into a target area, most commonly around the eyes to further results.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment can be added post Tixel treatment to further improve results.

Is there downtime after a Tixel treatment?

Following your Tixel treatment, the treated areas may feel hot and appear red, patients describe the feeling as a mild sunburn. The sunburn feeling usually subsides within 4 hours after treatment and we recommended to leave the skin alone during this time. Swelling may also occur, particularly around the eye areas. Redness and swelling usually subsides after 48 hours and makeup can be applied from the day after the Tixel treatment. Micro crusting and gridding which can appear as little brown dots may form a few days following the treatment. These little brown dots can make your skin feel dry and rough but should naturally exfoliate off the skin within 7-14 days. It is important to not pick, rub or scratch them off as this can lead to complications such a post inflammatory pigmentation.

What kind of results can you see?

Following a Tixel treatment, the controlled skin injury recovers and repairs, resulting in more youthful, smoother and more radiant skin.

Tixel can effectively address a wide range of skin concerns including pigmentation, skin discolouration, sun damage, pores, fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet and acne scars.

A series of treatments are usually required for longer lasting results.

What does it feel like?

During your Tixel treatment, you may experience heat comparable to a sunburn.  Prior to your treatment, numbing cream may be applied to the treated areas.
